Amazon is said to be eyeing an in-house delivery service that‘s less dependent on third parties. The service Is reported to be in a testing phase and is primarily aimed at qualifying more products for free two-day shipping and ultimately ridding its warehouses of backlogs.
The news of Amazon’s plans had some effects on its traditional partners in delivery. FedEx shares dropped 0.5 percent while UPS’s were 1.5 percent lower. Amazon’s shares on the other hand rose 0.7 percent in early trading.
