No one ever said working at Amazon was a comfortable experience. The e-commerce giant is well-known for its nascent office civilization, but placing warehouse employees in cages seems somewhat extreme, even for Amazon.
However a patent, granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to Amazon at 2016, could create that dystopian cubicle a fact. The patent shows a cage constructed for a human functioning in robot work zones, a small work station beneath a robot trolley like the type currently utilised from Amazon warehouses to move shelving. In their analysis, Crawford and Joler noted “an outstanding illustration of employee alienation, a stark moment at the relationship between machines and humans. ”
