AmazonFresh is growing in leaps and bounds and now German Amazon customers have their opportunity to enjoy their fair share of fresh grocery delivered right at their doorsteps. This is after the extension of the services of the online retailer company to Potsdam and Berlin cities in Germany.
The customers now have a wide range of selection thanks to the more than 100,000 products on offer. The products include meat, vegetables, dairy, fruits and bakery products. If you need your fresh grocery for dinner, you can place your order up to noon. Alternatively, the customers can place their orders by 11pm, which will allow them to receive it in the following day when there will be a window of two-hour delivery service.
The customers are also allowed to identify a secure place where the grocery can be delivered if they won’t be available to receive it personally. There are other smaller stores in Berlin that are affiliated to Amazon, where customers in that city can still order products for delivery to their homes.
The Arrival of the service
The launching of AmazonFresh services in Germany happened last month. However, since 2010 customers in Germany could still access products like beverages and food on Amazone.de, where the varieties of products has increased tremendously.
Apart from grocery delivery, members of Amazon Prime Now in Munich and Berlin can order for the delivery of a select of frozen products on Amazon. For that service, an order will cost the customers €6.99 when they want it delivered within an hour. They will however receive it free of charge if they are able to wait for the delivery in two hours’ time.
Cost with convenience
Amazon Prime members in these cities have an advantage when ordering AmazonFresh products. They however ought to part with an additional €9.99 every month, which will be in exchange for a free delivery of orders that are above €40.
It’s a real grocery war out there
The entry of AmazonFresh to Germany opens another warfront with German’s grocery stores. They have to up their game now to stay relevant in the already competitive market, while AmazonFresh has to also live to the reality that the local grocers have their strong foothold on the market. Though the introduction has been a long time coming, the response by the German customers will give the final verdict of the impact of AmazonFresh introduction into Germany’s online grocery market.
